Who is this course for?

·        Managers whose duties now include environmental responsibilities

·        People who wish to develop their careers by acquiring a recognised qualification in Environmental Management

 

What does the course cover?

The programme covers the control measures for major types of environmental risk. It incorporates the main elements of UK and EU legislation for environmental protection and general principles for the management of environmental risk, including:

  • Foundations in environmental management
  • Environmental managementsystems
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Monitoring, reviewing and audit
  • Control of water contamination
  • Control of emissions to air
  • Solid waste and land use
  • Sources of energy and energy efficiency
  • Planning and dealing with environmental emergencie
  • Additionally recent cases and prosecutions plus statutory documentation will be explored to identify the key actions required by every employer to manage their environmental responsibilities.


Course of Study:-

 

5 Day Course (1 day per week x 5 weeks) + 2 hour examination + Practical Application

 

        Course Dates:

         Wednesday 4th,11th, 18th, 25th, 31st August

         Exam: Wednesday 8th September 2010

 

The NEBOSH National Certificate in  Environmental Management consists of two units - each separately assessed:


NEC1 - Management and control of environmental hazards


NEC2 - Environmental practical application

Unit NEC1 is a taught unit assessed by a two-hour written examination.

Unit NEC2 requires the candidate to carry out an environmental review of a workplace or organisation and produce a justified action plan to improve performance.  This practical application must normally be completed and returned to the Course Provider by a date determined by them and normally within 14 days of the written examination.  The practical application is internally assessed by the course provider and externally moderated by NEBOSH.
A unit certificate is issued denoting successful achievement of each unit. A certificate award parchment is issued on successful completion of both units
