Health Matters (Health & Safety) Ltd offer a full Occupational Health Service. The principle aim of this service is to provide specialist advice to employers to help ensure the Health and Well-being of their staff is promoted which in turn can help to optimise the efficiency of the workforce.
The Occupational Health Service compliments our well established Health & Safety and Environmental Management sectors which have been offered by Health Matters since its inception in 1997. It provides companies with structured and easy to implement tools and information in relation to employee sickness which is the key to managing absence at work and improving overall staff morale and health.
Our Occupational Health Doctors and Nurses provide advice on all workplace health issues whilst maintaining employee medical confidentiality. All staff adhere to the relevant professional standards as laid down by the General Medical Council (GMC), The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), The Health & Safety Executive (HSENI) and The Irish Medical Council for Doctors and Bord Altranais
Through our Occupational Healthcare Service we ensure that statutory health surveillance and general health promotional health activities are carried out with minimal disruption to our clients work operations (night and day shifts). We can deliver this service both is our clients premises or in our Newry or Dublin consulting rooms.
Occupational Health Services and tests are carried out 'on your site' or in our company premises and they include:-
- Policy Development and review
- Pre - Employment Medicals
- Absentee Management
- Assessment of Rehabilitation and Redeployment
- Provision of Health Screening
- Coordinating and implementing of Health Surveillance Programmes (Noise, Skin, Sight, Hearing & Respiratory)
- Workplace Assessment - DSE, Noise, Air Monitoring
- Stress and Bereavement Counselling
- Education and Training for Management
- Health Promotion/Awareness sessions on site/in company
Health promotion "Well Man" and "Well Women" clinics are also a crucial part of our service as many employers are being increasingly proactive in their approach to their staff's wellbeing.
Our Nursing and Medical staff speak informally with staff of all levels and give advice on healthy life choices such as diet, exercise, alcohol, drugs and stress and offer testing and specialist advice on the following:-
- Blood Pressure
- Blood testing for Cholesterol
- Blood Testing for Blood Sugar
Additional tests and checks that can be carried out include:-
- Audiometry (Hearing )
- Lung Function
- Skin examination
- Pregnant workers assessment
- Night Workers Assessment
- ECG
- Vision screening
- Hand Arm Vibration Assessments
